Job Description:

Howard Community College English and World Languages Division is seeking candidates with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching college-level composition with experience in developmental education, practical experience with First Year Experience principles, and advanced skills in instructional technology for a 10-month, full-time faculty position beginning in August 2019.

Criteria include strong evidence of teaching excellence, demonstrated commitment to the community college mission, experience teaching college-level composition and developmental writing, familiarity with First Year Experience principles, and an ability to work collaboratively within the English Department and across departments. Ideal candidates are committed to serving a diverse student population and are interested in academic leadership opportunities.


Requirements:

The position requires:

  • Master's degree in English (or a related field)
  • Community college and/or university teaching experience
  • Teaching experience in college composition and developmental reading and/or writing, and proficiency in instructional technology and pedagogy, including learning management systems


Additional Information:

Hours Per Week: Varies based on course load and expected fulfillment of college responsibilities
Work Schedule: Varies based on course load. Faculty can expect course load to consist of developmental writing, college composition, and/or FYEX courses. Faculty should expect to maintain a campus presence Monday through Friday.
Compensation: Commensurate based on experience, plus excellent medical insurance, paid leaves, and tuition reimbursement
Grade: Full-time, 10-month faculty
FLSA Status: Exempt
