Copycat Copywriters is a Brooklyn-based copywriting collective that builds in-house writing teams for digital marketing agencies and brands. We’re currently looking for part-time freelance writers to grow with Copycat.
Blogging starts at 6.5¢ per word, and typical projects are 800 or 1500 words. Pay can be considerably higher for some clients and copy mediums. We expect freelancers to commit to 4,000 words per week. Writers receive regular access to paid professional development opportunities including monthly Zoom calls.
All work can be done remotely. Part-time positions may evolve to full-time employment.
We’re currently hiring for three roles:
Creative copywriter: Our platform centers around creativity, and many of our writers began as novelists, poets, and screenwriters. If you’re a talented writer interested in adding copywriting to your list of genres, we provide the tools to get you started. When the writing is there, teaching more about the specifics of copywriting is an investment we’re always willing to make.
Web copywriter: The base pay for web copy ranges from 8–10¢ per word with opportunities for much higher paying projects for successful creatives. Assignments range from landing pages and on-page optimizations to entire website rebrands and creative assets.
Email copywriter: The rate of pay for email copy projects is $20 per email, with each email project typically consisting of between 8-15 emails. Assignments range from automated email sequences to broadcast email sequences, and some projects may include as many as 20 emails.
Technical copywriter: The base pay for technical writing ranges from 8–9¢ per word with opportunities for much higher paying projects for successful writers. Assignments typically range from 1250-1500 words each. Verticals include but are not limited to IT and cybersecurity, health and applied sciences, finance, and law.
- Exceptional writing skills as demonstrated through past work experience or personal creative projects
- Fluency with Google Docs
- Experience writing blogs
- Understanding of SEO principles
- Copyediting or proofreading experience
- An understanding of brand persona, consumer profiles, messaging/positioning
