Children's Creative Writing Instructor

Looking for Children’s Creative Writing Instructors focusing on prose.

Our current needs are for traditionally published writers interested in teaching children in grades 3-12.  Our classes are fun, interactive, and NOT school-like! We emphasize creativity over academic rigor and focus on key narrative writing elements (character, plot, setting, dialogue, etc.) over sentence structure, spelling, punctuation, and pre-ordained academic form.

Our children's instructors do not have to write for children to teach children.  But they must be able to access the child within to create a fun, encouraging environment to help kids discover their unique voices and creativity.

Our instructors are experts at recognizing the good in every student’s writing and finding ways to bring it to its own best level. We are not looking for classroom teachers, but rather writers who can teach.

We are not looking for poetry instructors at this time.

  • Published by a traditional press, small press, or in recognized magazines or literary journals.
  • Love and enthusiasm for writing and a desire to teach students the creative process.
  • Excellent communication, organizational skills, and reliability.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to interact in a nurturing, supportive way with students, parents and peers.

All TWC work is part-time, from one to several classes a week, depending on your interest and availability. A per-session commitment is required.

Our physical locations are in New Jersey, but all offerings are currently online. We are now open to instructors who live anywhere with stable web access.

Please send a cover letter, your writing resumé, along with writing samples (no longer than 10 pages or an online sample or link), to and include “TWC Instructor Inquiry” in the subject line.
