Duties: The Department of English at the University of South Florida seeks an Associate or Full Professor to serve as a scholar-administrator in Rhetoric and Composition. The candidate will serve as Director of First Year Composition. As FYC Director, the candidate will lead and coordinate instructional and assessment initiatives and use information about student performance to advance inclusive learning opportunities. The successful candidate will have a background in administration and experience using quantitative and qualitative data. Candidates will exhibit dedication to teaching excellence and student success across diverse student populations. Areas of scholarly research are open but may include program administration, research methodologies, digital pedagogies, or data analytics. This is a twelve-month administrative position with a teaching reduction to 1–1. Tenure with appropriate approvals. Salary and benefits competitive.

The department offers an undergraduate degree in Professional and Technical Communication, as well as an MA and PhD in Rhetoric and Composition. The department also offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in Creative Writing and Literature and features a Digital Humanities research program. 

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will serve as writing program administrator for First Year Composition, a renewable appointment of four years. The candidate will collaborate with other department, college, and university administrators to create a multi-disciplinary environment for instruction, assessment, research, and student retention, as well as engage with relevant and appropriate campus partnerships. The candidate will also be expected to teach in both the undergraduate and graduate programs and contribute to the humanities focus of teaching, research, and service. Starting date for this position is August 2020.

Qualifications (Education & Experience):
Minimum Qualifications: Doctoral degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service. Normally will have produced creative work, professional writing or research in referred and other professional journals, and be a recognized authority in the field of specialization. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Professor.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in writing program administration; experience teaching undergraduate and graduate courses; and a strong, documented research profile.
Additional Information for Applicants: Doctoral degree, from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of  English, Rhetoric and Composition/Writing Studies or related field with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service with at least 3 years of administrative experience. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Associate or Full Professor.
