The Division of Communications, Humanities, and Human Services at Missouri Valley College invites applications for a full-time, renewable, non-tenure track Assistant Professor of English. A highly diverse, private liberal arts college of approximately 1400 students, Missouri Valley is located in Marshall, Missouri, midway between Kansas City and Columbia. The appointment will begin August 1, 2019.
The position’s 5/5 teaching load will consist primarily of courses in the College’s General Education composition sequence and courses in the study of the English language. The ideal candidate will also be able to teach technical and professional writing courses for the English major. Additional responsibilities of the position include student advising and service on College committees.
Required qualifications include either a Ph.D. in English with an emphasis in Rhetoric and Composition or Technical and Professional Writing, or an M.A. in English with at least three years of full-time teaching experience in higher education. ABD applicants with a dissertation defense scheduled no later than fall 2019 are also welcomed.
The successful candidate will also possess a commitment to collegiality and professionalism, and demonstrate evidence of teaching excellence. Familiarity with Google Apps for Education and Moodle preferred.
