Assistant Professor of English (Creative Nonfiction)

Responsibilities include teaching a 4/4 load, with at least two of those courses being first year writing. Creative writing courses include undergraduate introductory-level, multi-genre workshops; workshops in fiction, poetry, and nonfiction; and special topics courses, as well as courses at the graduate level. Other duties may include overseeing graduate theses.

Required qualifications include: PhD or MFA (or equivalent) in Creative Writing, completed or expected by August 2019.

The successful candidate will specialize in creative nonfiction and demonstrate an enthusiastic commitment to teaching first-year writing. The successful candidate will be experienced in teaching creative writing and composition at the college level. Preferred candidates will demonstrate an active research agenda in the field of creative nonfiction, with a history of conference presentations, publications, and/or readings. The department is especially interested in candidates with interest and experience in building creative communities, including organizing events like a reading series and student-centered activities involving the arts. Candidates who advance to the campus visit will be asked to provide a brief statement explaining the ways that student success, diversity, and inclusion shape their approach to teaching, scholarship, and service.
