The Department of English at Coastal Carolina University invites applications for a tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor of English specializing in creative writing with a primary focus in poetry and a secondary specialty in creative nonfiction. The appointment will be effective August 2020. Candidates who will add to the diversity of our faculty are especially encouraged to apply. Candidates must hold an MFA or PhD in Creative Writing by August 2020 and have college-level teaching experience. Experience with literary journal editing, digital platforms and design, and/or the teaching of editing is desirable. The successful candidate will have significant poetry and creative nonfiction publications in literary journals and/or at least one published book of poetry. The individual hired for this position will have the opportunity to teach graduate courses in the Master of Arts in Writing program, undergraduate poetry and creative nonfiction workshops, and introductory creative writing courses. The position also includes a significant role in the production of Waccamaw, Coastal Carolina’s online literary journal, and opportunities to contribute to the department’s visiting writers series, as well as projects of our undergraduate creative writing minor and English major concentration.
