Assistant Professor of Creative Writing, Poetry

Northeastern State University invites applications for a full time tenure track faculty member for Assistant Professor of English. This is a Creative Writing position with an emphasis in poetry, but the selected candidate must demonstrate the ability to teach generalist courses in the major and core courses including Composition. Desirable areas of secondary emphasis include digital humanities and drama. This faculty member will be based on the Tahlequah campus with the expectation courses will be taught on both the Tahlequah and Broken Arrow campuses.  


Degree Requirements:

Doctorate required, ABD completed prior to August 1, 2020, MFA or other terminal degree for full consideration. ABD considered with sufficient qualifications.


Experience:

Previous university level teaching experience is highly desirable.


Responsibilities:

Faculty members are expected to be excellent teachers and advisors, engaged in their fields, and participating members of the university, professional and local communities. The primary teaching area will be creative writing with an emphasis on poetry. Faculty members should anticipate teaching online and/or blended courses as part of their regular teaching responsibilities.


Salary: Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Northeastern State University offers an extensive benefits package.
