The Department of Writing Arts of Rowan University welcomes applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor in Creative Nonfiction to join the department September 1, 2019.
The successful candidate will teach and help develop courses in the graduate and undergraduate writing programs in the area of creative nonfiction and will also teach undergraduate introductory creative writing courses. They will have a record of significant publication in creative nonfiction—including memoir, literary journalism, or other creative nonfiction genres in long and short form—as well as a demonstrated excellence in teaching creative nonfiction courses. The successful candidate will also have a demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.
This position carries an expectation that the successful candidate will seek external funding such as individual fellowships and grants. In addition, the candidate will be asked to contribute to the department and university through service including curriculum development, program development and management, and activities related to creating a community of writers.
The successful candidate will possess an MFA or PhD in Creative Writing or related field with significant publications in creative nonfiction. The terminal degree is required at time of appointment. Starting Date: September 2019.
