Assistant Professor in Creative Writing – Poetry

The Department of English at West Virginia University invites applications for a full-time tenure-track assistant professor in creative writing—poetry. Candidates must hold an M.F.A. or Ph.D., have at least one book of poetry in print or in press with a highly regarded publisher, and be able to demonstrate strong teaching ability. Duties will include undergraduate and graduate courses in creative writing, mentoring of M.F.A. students and supervision of their theses, and service in the department and M.F.A. program.
The Department of English has 34 full-time faculty members in creative writing, literature, linguistics, composition and rhetoric, and professional writing and we offer a full range of academic programs (B.A., M.A., M.A. in Professional Writing and Editing, M.F.A., and Ph.D.). The teaching load is 2–2 with teaching opportunities at the undergraduate and graduate levels. We require a degree in hand by August 10, 2018; strong evidence of current and future publication; and demonstrated potential for teaching excellence at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
