Rutgers University–Newark

Assistant Professor

Rutgers University-Newark invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, although other ranks may be considered, in nonfiction writing, ideally to begin in Fall 2017.

The successful candidate will teach nonfiction workshops and other courses in the nationally recognized MFA program in Creative Writing, and both undergraduate and Master’s-level classes in one or more humanities fields. He or she will demonstrate a commitment to publicly engaged scholarship, to interdisciplinary or multidisciplinary scholarship, and to writing for an audience that extends beyond the university.

Requirements: All applicants must have a record of significant publication in nationally recognized venues; demonstrated excellence in teaching at the college level; and professional qualifications consistent with a tenured or tenure-track position in one of Rutgers University-Newark’s humanities departments (African and African American Studies; Arts, Culture and Media; English; History; Philosophy; or Spanish and Portuguese Studies). PhD, MFA, or other advanced degree required.

Applications will be reviewed beginning March 1, and will be considered until the position is filled. Submit a letter of application, a current CV, and contact information for three references.
