Prattfolio, the magazine of Pratt Institute, is seeking an Assistant Editor to join a creative, collaborative team committed to considered, engaging storytelling about the Pratt Institute community, across print and digital formats. If you have strong collaborative skills and experience in editorial content development for print and/or digital formats, we want to hear from you!
The ideal candidate would bring a passion for creative inquiry and ideas as well as empathy for Pratt Institute's diverse community of students, faculty, staff, and alumni whose areas of focus span art, design, architecture, information science, liberal arts and sciences, engineering, and more. The candidate would be a ready collaborator with colleagues and stakeholders across and beyond campus in service of shared communications goals.
The candidate should be self-motivated and detail oriented with strong editorial sensibilities, interest in design and visual storytelling, and enthusiasm for research. Experience and/or eagerness to grow in editorial content development for the digital space (web and social media) is also preferred.

On a typical day, you will:
• Generate story ideas and develop content for Prattfolio's print and digital formats
• Collaborate and strategize with colleagues across our creative services, digital communications, and PR/editorial communications teams in a joint effort to coordinate messaging and storytelling
• Help keep Prattfolio's operations moving smoothly by participating in editorial processes, providing administrative support, supervising student workers, and occasionally acting as eyes and ears on the ground at Pratt
This position is hybrid, with on-site work based on Pratt Institute's Brooklyn, New York, campus.
Salary range: $60,000-$68,000 + Generous Benefits
Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
Experience: Two to three years in magazine publishing and/or institutional communications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Detail-oriented editorial eye
• Strong creative instincts
• Experience working in content management systems
• Experience writing and/or creating content for web and social media
• Familiarity with Chicago Manual of Style is a plus
