The 2021 Portland Book Festival, hosted by Literary Arts, was held online from November 8 to November 12 and culminated with an in-person festival at the Portland Art Museum and the Portland’5 arts event center on November 13. The festival featured events including author discussions and writing workshops. Participating authors included poet Dao Strom; fiction writers Omar El Akkad, Louise Erdrich, and Lauren Groff; and nonfiction writer Maggie Nelson. All virtual events were free and open to the public; the cost of a pass for the in-person event was $15 with advance purchase or $25 day-of. Visit the website for more information.

Accessibility accommodations at the Portland Art Museum and Portland’5 included public transportation near the venues, elevators in all multilevel event spaces, accessible sidewalks, pathways, and doorways; ADA-compliant restrooms and event spaces; accessible parking; available assistive listening devices; closed captioning on prerecorded media; venue signage in Braille; and ASL interpretation with advance request.
