The Water~Stone Review Summer Writing Workshop, sponsored by Hamline University's MFA in Creative Writing program, was held from July 24 to July 29 at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota. The program featured workshops for poets, fiction writers, and creative nonfiction writers, individual conferences, a publishing and revision panel, as well as student and faculty readings. The faculty included poet Rebecca Lindenberg; fiction writer Chinelo Okparanta; and creative nonfiction writer Sven Birkerts. Publishing professionals included Chris Fischbach, publisher at Coffee House Press, and Joey McGarvey, editor at Milkweed Editions. The workshop was open to all community members who have completed a bachelor’s degree, and was designed as a graduate level course creative writing course. The cost of the program, which includes lodging in a single-room dormitory on campus with a shared bathroom, and all meals, was $1,395. To apply, writers submitted a writing sample of 10 pages of poetry, or 10 to 20 pages of prose. There was no application fee.
