The 2016 Writer’s Hotel Writers Conference was held from June 1 to June 7 in New York City at the Bryant Park Hotel, the Library Hotel, and the Algonquin Hotel. The master class offered workshops, craft lectures, panels, and seminars in poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction, as well as readings, one-on-one meetings with agents, and walking tours of New York City. The faculty included poets Roger Bonair-Agard and Tim Seibles; fiction writers Shanna McNair, Dolen Perkins-Valdez, and Scott Wolven; and nonfiction writer Meghan Daum. Writing Lab leaders included poets Marie Howe and Wesley McNair; and prose writer Bill Roorbach. Guest lecturers included prose writers Bethany Ball and Elyssa East; and editors Kevin Larimer of Poets & Writers and Carey Salerno of Alice James Books. Other guest speakers included Elaine Trevorrow of Blue Flower Arts. Attendees received comprehensive pre-conference editing services with Shanna McNair and Scott Wolven. Conference attendees also had opportunities to read their work at venues around New York City. The cost of tuition was $2,500. Lodging was not included. Using the online submission system, writers submitted at least 20 pages of poetry, fiction, or creative nonfiction and a bio by April 22. There was no application fee. Space was limited.
