The 2012 Summer Literary Seminars–Kenya was held from December 8 to December 22 in Nairobi and on Lamu Island. The conference included readings, lectures, roundtable discussions, meetings with local artists and writers, tours of the country, and workshops in poetry and fiction. The faculty included poet Eileen Myles and fiction writers Arthur Flower, Billy Kahora, and Binyavanga Wainaina. The fee, not including airfare and accommodations, was $1,950. Writers submitted 10 to 15 pages of poetry or no more than 25 to 30 pages of prose and an application with $150 application fee by November 15.
