The 2018 Split This Rock Poetry Festival was held from April 19 to April 21 in venues located in the Farragut Square neighborhood of Washington, D.C. The biennial festival, which “celebrates the many ways poetry can act as an agent for social change,” featured workshops, panels, roundtable discussions, and readings. Participating poets included Elizabeth Acevedo, Kazim Ali, Ellen Bass, Sherwin Bitsui, Kwame Dawes, Camille T. Dungy, Ilya Kaminsky, Sonia Sanchez, Solmaz Sharif, Terisa Siagatonu, Paul Tran, and Javier Zamora. The cost of the conference ranged from $200 to $300 ($75 for students). Single-day registration was available for $85. Lodging was available at the Beacon Hotel for discounted rates until March 20.
