The Renaissance House Residency Program, sponsored by the Helene and Dorothy West Foundation for Artists in Need, offers residencies of one to four weeks during the month of February in Palm Springs, California, to poets, fiction writers, and creative nonfiction writers. The residency includes classes, lectures, and time to write. Each resident is provided with private lodging, access to a pool and hot tub, some meals, and weekly excursions to local destinations such as Joshua Tree National Park. The residency fee is $800 per week. Applications are considered on a rolling basis; there is no application fee. Visit the website for more information.

The Renaissance House will also offer a monthlong residency program in San Francisco de Paula, Cuba, during the month of March for poets, fiction writers, and creative nonfiction writers. The program features classes in Cuban culture and history, guest lectures, and time to write. Each resident is provided with private lodging, meals, travel expenses from Miami, and weekly excursions to local destinations such as Havana, beaches, and Ernest Hemingway’s former home.
