Author's Bio

I am the author of Thirtha (Yuganta Press, 2002, Behind Dark Waters (Plain View Press, 2008), Draw Me Inmost (Stockport Flats, 2009), Trace (Finishing Line Press, 2011) and Slow Ripening (Local Gems, 2016). My poems have appeared in many journals and on-line publications in the United States, Canada, and India. I have performed my poems internationally, most recently in the Geraldine R. Dodge Poetry Festival, Mamilla Poetry Festival, and Internacional Festival De Poesie de Granada. My essays have appeared in the Writer's Chronicle, Journal of Postcolonial Writing, The Women’s Studies Quarterly and in anthologies of literature, culture and politics. I was the poet laureate of Suffolk County, Long Island (2013-15).
