The Mokulē‘ia Writers Retreat was held from May 6 to May 11 in Waialua, Hawaii, at Camp Mokulē‘ia on the North Shore of O‘ahu. The retreat featured workshops in poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction, as well as readings, one-on-one consultations, publishing panels, yoga sessions, and time to write. The theme of the 2018 retreat was "nā wahi ho‘oulu," or “Places That Inspire Us.” Nonfiction writer and editor Constance Hale led the retreat. The faculty included poets Barbara Marsh, Linda Watanabe McFerrin, and Matthew Zapruder; and nonfition writers Zoe FitzGerald Carter, Larry Habegger, Tamara Moan, and Lynn Young. The cost of the event, which included tuition, lodging, and all meals, ranged from $800 to $1,300, depending on choice of lodging. The cost of attendance without lodging ranged from $600 to $700.
