The 2017 Mayborn Literary Nonfiction Conference was held from July 21 to July 23 at the Hilton Dallas/Fort Worth Lakes Executive Conference Center in Grapevine, Texas. The conference, whose focus this year was “The Power of Words,” featured workshops in creative nonfiction as well as panel discussions, lectures, readings, and pitch sessions with agents. Participating nonfiction writers included Katherine Boo, Charles Johnson, and Sebastian Junger. Participating agents included Jim Donovan (Jim Donovan Literary), Jim Hornfischer (Hornfischer Literary), David R. Patterson (Stuart Krichevsky Literary), and BJ Robbins (BJ Robbins Literary). Tuition, which included some meals, was $425. Pitch sessions with agents were available for an additional $50. Rooms at the conference hotel were available for $116 per night.
