Author's Bio

Poet and lyrical essayist Maria Nazos is the author of A Hymn That Meanders, published by Wising Up Press. She received her MFA in Writing from Sarah Lawrence College. She is a doctoral student and Chancellor's fellow at English at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Her work has received a first place Gaffney Award from The Academy of American Poets, scholarships from the Santa Fe Art Institute, the Provincetown Fine Arts Work Center, the Squaw Valley Community of Writers, and fellowships from the University of Nebraska, Vermont Studio Center and the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts. Her work is published or forthcoming in The Florida Review, The Southern Humanities Review, The New Ohio Review, Raleigh Review, Stymie Magazine, Inkwell, The Saranac Review, The anthology Wait a Minute, I Have to Take off My Bra, The Boxcar Poetry Review, The Chicago Quarterly Review, Poet Lore, The New York Quarterly, Harpur Palate, The New Plains Review, The Sycamore Review, Main Street Rag, The Dead Mule School of Southern Literature, Tar River Poetry, and the anthology Double Lives, Reinventing, and Those We Leave Behind. She resides in Provincetown, Massachusetts and Lincoln, Nebraska.
