Author's Bio

Laura Van Prooyen is author of two collections of poetry, Our House Was on Fire, nominated by Philip Levine and winner of the McGovern Prize (Ashland Poetry Press 2015) and Inkblot and Altar (Pecan Grove Press 2006). Her poems also have appeared in The American Poetry Review, Ploughshares, and The Southern Review among others. Van Prooyen lives in San Antonio, TX. Her services for writers and educators include manuscript consultation, teacher training workshops, and writing workshops for all levels. Laura has experience working with diverse populations that range in age from 7-70 in both community and academic settings.
