Author's Bio

Joyce Kessel’s collection of poems Saints of Sacred Madness: A Catechism of Poems will be available in June 2021. She also has 3 chapbooks: Secret Lives, Describing the Dark (Saddle Road Press, 2013) and Classroom Quixote (The Writer’s Den, 2015). Her poems have appeared in Beyond Bones Vol. 2, and the WNY Celebration of Poets anthology. Her poems have found space on WNY metro busses, in WNY Poets Waging Words for Peace, spitball magazine, 4 Kind of a Hurricane Press anthologies, the Nickel City Nights anthology and has been a finalist in the New Millenium Writing Poetry contest. Joyce is a longtime co-editor of the Earth’s Daughters writing collective, Just Buffalo Literary Center, and Association of Writers and Writing Programs. She is a regular attendee at the Mayapple Writers’ Retreat.

Formerly Director of the Creative Writing and Literature Program, she taught literature, writing, fine arts and interdisciplinary courses at Villa Maria College in Buffalo NY.
