The 15th annual James River Writers Conference was held from October 14 to October 15 at the Greater Richmond Convention Center in Richmond, Virginia. The conference featured pitch sessions with editors and agents and panel discussions for fiction writers and creative nonfiction writers. The conference offered pre-conference master classes on October 13 at the main branch of the Richmond Public Library. Participants included fiction writers David Baldacci and Meg Medina; nonfiction writers Beth Macy and Margot Lee Shetterly; literary agents Erica Bauman (Aevitas Creative Management), John Bowers (Bent Agency), Ben Grange (L. Perkins Agency), Annie Hwang (Folio Literary Management), and Cherise Fisher (Wendy Sherman Associates); and editors Jaime Coyne (St. Martin’s Press) and Esi Sogah (Kensington Books). The cost of the conference, which included some meals and a one-on-one meeting with an agent or editor, was $335, or $195 for a single day. The cost of a master class was an additional $65.
