The 12th annual Eckerd College Writers’ Conference: Writers in Paradise was held from January 16 to January 23, 2016, at Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida. The conference offered lectures, panels, roundtable discussions, readings, and workshops in fiction and creative nonfiction. The faculty included poets Campbell McGrath, Aimee Nezhukumatathil, Helen Pruitt Wallace, and Scott Ward; fiction writers Andre Dubus III, Laura Lippman, Dennis Lehane, Stewart O’Nan, Les Standiford, and Sterling Watson; and creative nonfiction writers Ann Hood and Gilbert King. The cost of the conference was $875, which did not include lodging or meals. Limited housing ($600 for single occupancy for the week and $300 for double occupancy for the week) was available on a first come, first served basis. Scholarships were available. Using the online submission system, applicants submitted a writing sample of five to eight poems or up to 25 pages of prose and an artist’s statement with a $25 application fee by November 15.
