Doe Branch Ink offered retreats for poets, fiction writers, and creative nonfiction writers on 50 acres in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Marshall, North Carolina. The retreat included workshops with a writer-in-residence as well as time to write. The May 19 to May 25 workshop in fiction and creative nonfiction was led by June Spence; the June 2 to June 8 fiction workshop was led by Abigail DeWitt; the June 9 to June 15 workshop in poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction was led by Marjorie Hudson; and the June 16 to June 22 workshop in creative nonfiction and feature journalism was led by Scott Huler. The cost of the retreat was $800 to $1,400, depending on accommodation, and included tuition, lodging, and all meals.
