The Cuba Writers Program was held from May 2 to May 10 in Havana, Cuba. The program featured workshops for poets, fiction writers, and nonfiction writers, as well as lectures on Cuban history and culture, cultural activities, and opportunities to meet with Cuban writers and artists. The faculty included fiction and nonfiction writer Alden Jones and fiction writer Tim Weed. Tuition was $3,490, which included workshops, some meals, ground transportation, site visits, and shared lodging at area hotels and inns (private lodging, space permitting, was available for an additional $600). Airfare was not included. Writers submitted two to three pages of poetry or up to five pages of prose and a statement of intent by January 15.
