The Colgate Writers’ Conference was held from June 16 to June 22 at Colgate University in Hamilton, New York. The conference featured workshops, readings, craft talks, and panel discussions for poets, fiction writers, and nonfiction writers. Participating writers included poets Peter Balakian and Jenny Xie; fiction writers Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah, Amy Rose Capetta, Brock Clarke, CJ Hauser, Naomi Jackson, and Anne Valente; creative nonfiction writer Garnette Cadogan; and hybrid writer Angela Palm. The cost of the conference, which included tuition, on-campus housing, and meals, was $1,250 for poetry and short-form prose workshops and $1,800 for long-form fiction and creative nonfiction workshops. Limited financial aid was available. Writers submitted an application and a writing sample of four to six poems or up to 25 pages of fiction or creative nonfiction by March 30.
