Christina Olivares is the author of Petition, winner of YesYes Books' 2014 Vinyl 45 Chapbook Competition (forthcoming 2015), and No Map of the Earth Includes Stars, winner of the 2014 Marsh Hawk Press Book Prize (also forthcoming 2015). Olivares is a poet and educator from the Bronx in New York City. She earned an MFA from Brooklyn College in Poetry and a BA from Amherst College in Interdisciplinary Studies (Education). She is the recipient of two Jerome Foundation Travel and Study Grants (2014 and 2010), a 2012 Vermont Studio Center Artists Grant, and a 2008-2009 Teachers and Writers Collaborative Fellowship. She has received two Pushcart Prize nominations. Her poems are published or forthcoming in Five Quarterly, decomP magazinE, Vinyl Poetry, PALABRA, Tidal Basin Review, The Acentos Literary Review, No, Dear, and The Brooklyn Review. She has participated in VONA and Bread Loaf Writers Conferences.
