The 2019 Centrum Port Townsend Writers’ Conference was held from July 14 to July 21 at Fort Worden State Park, a turn-of-the-century army base accessible to saltwater beaches, wooded hills, and the Olympic Mountains in Washington State. The conference featured workshops in poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction, as well as craft talks, readings, open mics, and time to write. The faculty included poets Carl Phillips, Paisley Rekdal, and Robert Wrigley; fiction writers Kim Barnes, Jonathan Evison, and Daniel Orozco; and nonfiction writers Rebecca Brown, Debra Gwartney, and Priscilla Long. Tuition ranged from $450 for afternoon workshops to $750 for the full program. Private lodging and meal options ranged from $350 to $1,150. Financial aid and scholarships were available. Registration was first come, first served. Individual residencies at Centrum during the conference, which did not include workshops but offered access to some conference events, ranged from $650 to $745.
