Christopher Bursk

Chris Bursk, recipient of NEA, Guggenheim, and Pew Fellowships, is the author of eleven books including h The First Inhabitants of Arcadia from the University of Arkansas Press and The Improbable Swervings of Atoms from University of Pittsburgh Press. In addition to having worked as a volunteer for three decades in the corrections system, with those on probation and parole, he is currently a professor of language and literature at Bucks County Community College. His work has appeared in magazines such as Paris Review, American Poetry Review, Poetry, Manhattan Review, and The Sun. His poem, “Ovid at Fifteen,” won the Another Chicago Magazine Award, judged by Robert Dana. Chris has won numerous awards for his humanitarian and literary efforts including Bucks County Citizen of the Year and Poet Laureate of Bucks County. The Infatuations and Infidelities of Pronouns won the Bright Hill Chapbook competition Selected Poems from Future Cycle Press was published in 2014.

Dr. Cannady has published an array of articles and essays on poverty in America, community and domestic violence, and women’s issues. She has also spoken against sexual assault in the military at West Point. Her memoir, Crave: Sojourn of a Hungry Soul was named one of the best nonfiction books by black authors in 2015 by The Root online magazine. A Kirkus review describes Crave: Sojourn of a Hungry Soul as a "bold, honest, and courageous memoir." Dr. Cannady currently resides in Central Pennsylvania with her husband, Chico Cannady, and their three children. She currently teaches English at Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania.
