The 2018 WordSpring conference was held on April 28 at Butte College in Oroville, California, located in the Sierra Nevada foothills, 75 miles north of Sacramento. The conference featured workshops in poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, and publishing, as well as workshops in food, travel, and song writing. The conference also featured talks and a pre-conference reception. The faculty included poets Heather Altfeld, Pat Hull (songwriting), and Troy Jollimore; fiction writers Lia Deremedi, Erika Mailman, Erin Lindsay McCabe, and Ty Moore; and creative nonfiction writers Daria Booth, Blair Anthony Robinson, Neal Snidow, and Susan Wooldridge. Multi-genre writers Sarah Pape and Richard La Rosa led publishing workshops. Poet Jason Bayani delivered the keynote. The cost of the conference, which included breakfast and lunch, was $80 for general admission and $50 for students and educators. Registration was first come, first served.
