The third annual DISQUIET Azores Residency, sponsored by Dzanc Books and Fundação Luso-Americana, was held from July 7 to July 16 at the Hotel do Colégio in Ponta Delgada on Portugal’s São Miguel Island. The residency featured time to write, island excursions, readings, open mics, and informal discussions for poets, fiction writers, and nonfiction writers. Poet and fiction writer Ocean Vuong and fiction writer Jeff Parker were the 2019 writers in residence. The cost of the residency, which included lodging and breakfasts, ranged from $2,195 to $2,595. To apply, writers submitted via e-mail up to 15 pages of poetry or prose. Admissions were made on a rolling basis; space was limited.
