Poetry, short stories and personal essays from diverse perspectives. We often feature work from Hawaii and the Pacific region, but we are interested in great writing from anywhere in the world.

Submissions are accepted August through April.

We prefer poetry that is left-aligned. As an online publication read on many types of devices, we have a hard time doing justice to poetry with unconventional spacing or with very long lines of verse.

We would love to publish more nonfiction, and more work from the Pacific region.

We publish books that are relentless in their energy, ambition, playfulness, and language—books that refuse to be forgotten. We prefer projects that are slightly off-kilter; that construct a new world, possibly from the bones of our own, and exhibit a strong sense of place; that shatter expectations and language. We frequently consult our authors on artistic/aesthetic choices, as well as editorial decisions, and we are invested in our authors and their futures.

Please consult our catalog and submissions guidelines before submitting or querying.

Red Flag Poetry is a postcard project that aims to deliver poetry to the mailbox of subscribers every month on a postcard. We look for poetry that is creative, original, and well crafted. We want to see poems that criticallly reflect life and force us to feel the weight of the world or your world.

Please limit each poem to 22 lines maximum with no more than 50 characters per line. These guidelines are somewhat flexible, but keep in mind this has to go on a 4x6 postcard
