Maudlin House is a literary experience that curates the best in experimental lit by both emerging, and established authors. We encourage you to write weird, life's too short not to. Belong to where you don’t belong. Stay up all night and drip fever sweat poetry. Create flash fiction from yelp pages. Write prose from Facebook. And always push the limit of what literature is and could be.
Since the magazine’s inception in 1980, editors and readers have worked to keep alive the journal’s tradition of publishing both established and emerging writers who uphold the highest standards of innovative prose and poetry.
We have eyes for work that is both innovative in form/content and heart-wrenching in theme. Send good lit!

The aim of Black Fox is to publish both established and new writers. We welcome all fiction, but we especially like fiction from under-represented genres and styles, including YA. We are also interested in creative nonfiction, poetry, black and white photography and art.
Please read submission guidelines carefully.
Poetica Magazine accepts works centered on the Jewish experience. All writers of all backgrounds are encouraged to submit. We offer an annual poetry contest (Anna Davidson Rosenberg Award), and chapbook publishing services.

Whale Road Review will publish poetry, flash fiction, and micro essays that don’t demand too much time up front, but somehow leave readers changed. We hope readers of all sorts will enjoy these short pieces in stolen moments—waiting in line, using the restroom, riding a train, steeping tea. Whale Road Review will also be a resource for writing teachers and a venue for reviews. We will publish quarterly.
Grist: A Journal of the Literary Arts seeks high quality submissions from both emerging and established writers. We publish craft essays and interviews as well as fiction, nonfiction, and poetry—and we want to see the best work you have to offer, regardless of form, style, or subject matter. We prefer writing that is accessible, and experimental work that shows an awareness of what is being subverted and why. We value fiction and poetry that is aware of the history that has come before it.
Please follow the submissions guidelines on our website.
RATTLE is pretty simple: We love poetry and feel that it's something everyone can enjoy. We look for poems that are accessible, that have heart, that have something to say. And then we publish them. Poetry should make you laugh or cry; it should enlighten and entertain.
There are no dos and don’ts. We have room to be eclectic, and seek to
represent the entire stylistic landscape. Formal poems, epic poems,
lyric poems, narrative poems, surreal poems, prose poems, visual
poems—it’s all poetry. The most important thing a poem can be is
memorable. Does it lodge itself in your gut? Does it sing in there?
