I'm a writer and editor who's worked in digital media for 10 years, but my primary interest is fiction. I'm looking for groups where I can receive and give feedback on short stories I'm working on, and for groups that discuss the ins and outs of getting published. I know how to write for mainstream websites, but have basically no idea what I'm doing when navigating the fiction world!

I have been writing since I was a teenager, over 4 decades now. As a kid, my dream was to write books. I read everything I could get my hands on and the library was my favorite place. I cannot exist without writing; I kind of dissolve, thin out, puddle off, if I don't get words on a page each day. I journal pretty intensely every morning (about 5 a.m.). I also have my writing projects, and write a lot of poetry. Yet it is one of my biggest secrets, this wanting to be a writer. I have a full-time day job with a long commute, and I have a family - a busy life. At times, my writing time feels like stealing away from "responsibility". But if I don't catch the words circling around my mind, in my body, in my space, it's like I am not able to breathe. I've been chicken about trying to publish, and may have an overly cruel nagging  voice in my head about what I "produce". However, I am working on a poetry collection that I hope to soon submit for a chapbook, or a contest. I also have a novel in my head, only 2 chapters so far written. I joined a small online writing group a year ago and enjoy doing the prompts, have gotten some amazing critiques and much encouragement. I also have discovered that I love creative, supportive critiquing. I think I am also fairly good at editing; I edit scientific manuscripts on my job. I won spelling bees as a kid. What am I looking for in a writing group? I just sense that I would like to move on out of my little cubby hole, really try my writing muscles a little more, interact with other writers, and learn to take myself a little more seriously through that interaction. But also - to have fun at writing with and for others.

My educational background: I was an English major (bachelor) and translate German/English, too (fluent in German, live as an expat there, but my mother tongue is American English).

Linette

Hello, I'm a re-emerging writer. I have written poetry and short stories in my earlier life, simply for my own pleasure. Now I'm picking up the pen again and working on a novel of short stories and a poetry book. I want to start actively submitting my work and find an accountability partner to assist in attaining consistent writing goals.

I write from an African American -Women's prospective and would like to connect with writers that share this passion.

Clara

Hello,

I really love writing. I have always done it as a hobby but never really shared much of my writing. I have recently redescoved my love for a lot of my hobbies after a battle with depression. I know enjoy opening talking and writing about my story, feelings, and personal journey not only to find a community I feel understood in. But also in hopes of potentially helping someone else on their journey. After a few rough attempts at getting back into writing I felt a new cheerful desire to share my stories and poems. As supportive as my friends are they don't quite understand the art of it. I am looking for a place to share and talk with people who see and understand more then just the words on the page.
