A young writer/ hobbyist
I've got an MFA in creative writing from Fairfield University. I'm writing a memoir and find I need the support of other writers--preferrably ones who have some experience with loss of a loved one. Also must be LGBTQ friendly/celebrating. I'm writing inspirational/spiritual work that is NOT Christian-centric.
I'm a young writer interested in nature, mental health, spirituality, love, feminity, and social connection. I wrote my first manuscript as part of my senior keystone project in college, and I'm currently submitting that collection for publication. As I graduate college, I am hoping to continue learning from others and having an accountability group for both encouragement and critique. I have experience in workshop environments, am published in literary journals, and hope to have my collection published soon. My poetry can be described as a combination of Mary Oliver, Shira Erlichman, Amanda Gorman, Ross Gay, Derek Walcott, Monica Ong, and Diana Khoi Nguyen.
My writing journey began in 2012 when I opened my first blog. From there, I have written an article for a southeast church conference magazine and I have been a guest blogger on a homeschool blog. My most recent experiences include having a story published in the Chicken Soup for the Soul book - Angels All Around - and completing the writing of my first book.
I am a single mom of two teenagers so life is busy with working full-time, keeping up with the kids and trying to build a writing career. The biggest thing I'm looking for is connection with other writers. As of now, I am pretty much alone on this writing journey; it would be encouraging to have other writers to check in with and be accountable to.
I enjoy writing about people who have met with challenges and overcame them. I have also dabbled a little bit with poetry, short essays about reflections on life and adventures with nature.
