I am writing poetry right now—which is a bit surprising for me—but I am thoroughly enjoying the crafting of poetry and also the deep listening when poets read their work.

When I am not writing poetry, I am working on a YA novel and the beginnings of a series of Fairy tales/myths to guide life in the modern world.

I've been writing since I was nine years old and telling stories for longer, so my experience with writing has been lifelong and engrossing. I mostly need fellow writers to read my work and encourage me to keep writing. I like having an audience, but I'm not great at sharing my work until it's as perfect as I can make it on my own. A judgement-free space where I can share what I've made and get encouragement to continue would be the perfect environment for me.

I'm looking for a critiue partner with publishing experience in short fiction, personal essays, or middle-grade fiction.  Current project: revising a historical MG novel for agent representation. I'm also looking to connect with kindred spirits for mutual support and friendship.  I'm a veteran writer with many publications and awards. My debut MG novel was a Sydney Taylor Honor Book. My work has been supported by the Vermont Studio Center, TENT Children's Writing residency, and PJ Library.  My personal essays explore grief, loss, parenting, and life transitions.  I write a monthly blog on living the creative life.

I am an occasional writer, meaning that I write for myself occasionally. As a teacher, I write all day long; little of it is inspired or creative. When I taught a Creative Writing class recently, I wrote with my students and re-awakened my (fantasy) writing self.  For many years events moved me to write poetry. For the past 2 years, I have been experimenting with children's stories. I am looking for a group that will challenge me to write and keep me accountable. I don't like journal/memoir writing because I end up navel gazing and whining. I want to develop my voice and my craft writing stories and short, funny, poignent poems. I love pop-culture and super heroes and fantasy; I want to experiment with the tropes of heros and princesses to reveal "real" superheroes (no, I don't have a clear idea of what that means) and flip the "princess" script.

In short, I am beginning to explore the idea of being a writer, and if I can sell a story or poem or two, that would be exciting. Writing is an outlet and a hobby for me. I am not looking to make my living as a writer. I am looking to find some confidence as a writer and develop my own craft and voice.

Currently, I have a chapter in a SpiderMan and theology book due out later this year or early next year. When I'm not working on my novel project, I write poetry. Plus, I just wrote some exploratory lines reflecting on mystic theology. It takes me too long to complete projects. What is it that anyone in these forums want? They want to publish their work. Good, honest feedback and hard work - isn't that whay all of us want.

I'm an Italian translator and artist, living and working in Denver. I have written and published many technical articles on translation on my blog (www.aboutranslation.com) and on The ATA Chronicle, the magazine of the American Translators Association. I also write fiction, and one of my short stories was the lead story for the Anthology "Found", published by the Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers.

While I translate into Italian, my fiction and non-fiction writing is in English.

Shay Siegel

I am a young adult author and poet from Long Island, NY currently living in Charleston, SC. I have a BA in English from Tulane University and an MFA in Writing with a focus on fiction from Sarah Lawrence College. I am a freelance editor and content writer. I have independently published a collection of poetry Bleeding Flowers, and my debut young adult novel Fractured. Over the last ten years my short stories and poems have also been published in numerous literary journals that I have found through the PW database. I am looking for critique partners where we can all help each other continue to take our writing to the next level with current projects we're working on. I don't often have the opportunity to share my work with fellow writers when it's in the development stage so I'd love to create those connections and do the same for other writers!
