A prize of $1,000 and publication in Quarterly West is given annually for a poem, a short story or a novel excerpt, and an essay. Writers who have not published a book in the genre in which they are applying are eligible. Heather McHugh will judge in poetry, Debra Monroe will judge in fiction, and Steve Almond will judge in creative nonfiction. Using the electronic submission system, submit up to six poems totaling no more than 10 pages or up to 5,000 words of prose with a $20 entry fee by March 1. Visit the website for complete guidelines.
