A fellowship, which includes a stipend of $45,000, is given annually to an established international poet or fiction writer “who is unable to practice free expression at home.” The fellowship, sponsored by the Graduate Program in Literary Arts and the Thomas J. Watson Institute for International Studies, provides funds for relocation to the United States, living expenses, and an office on the Brown University campus for 10 months. Writers or individuals seeking to nominate a writer may submit at least 10 pages of poetry or prose along with English translations, a case history, a publishing history, and a resumé by February 15. There is no entry fee. E-mail or visit the website for complete guidelines.
