Alabama Chosen for 2014 WEX Award

Each year, Poets & Writers offers two writers (a poet and a fiction writer) a sort of fantasy business trip: We bring them to New York for a week-long series of meetings with agents, editors, and authors of their choice. The idea is to provide a network for professional advancement.

It is called the Maureen Egen Writers Exchange Award. Each year, we select one state and invite writers from that state to apply for this unique prize. For 2014, writers from Alabama are eligible. Judges will be Victor LaValle for fiction and Evie Shockley for poetry. The deadline to apply is December 1, 2013.
