Greetings from the Desert Southwest... Can't Post

Hello! My name is Mike. I live in the Desert Southwest. I am new to writing of any kind although I have been an avid reader for most of my life. I'm completing a Masters degree in English in December of this year and loved every minute of it. I would like to continue to write-- this site was recommended to me by a professor I had recently.

Thanks, Mike.

Welcome, Mike. What do you write?

And are you an Art Blakey fan?

Hi Pongo!

Sorry for the delay in responding. I stil trying to find my way around the site, etc. I have only recently given writing a go-- as a part of an MA in English. I'm more inclined to write fiction since that represents 99% of what I read and seems as good a place as any to start.
I am an Art Blakey fan. I particularly like when Lee Morgan was with him in the 60's. Lee is incredible on Blakey's JM Moanin' album.

Well, by all means write what you like to read. But it might be interesting to try some other genres as well, just to see how you like them. I always thought I was a fiction writer, and it turned out I was a poet all along.
