Our Writing Contests database lists hundreds of legitimate opportunities to get your work noticed, including 46 contests with upcoming deadlines. For example:

 

A Room of Her Own Foundation offers prizes of $1,000 and publication in Los Angeles Review for a poem, a short story, a short short story, and an essay by a woman writer. Deadline is July 31.

Black Warrior Review offers $1,000 plus publication for a single poem, a short story, and a work of nonfiction. The deadline is September 1.

Santa Fe Art Institute Offers One-Month Poetry Translator Residency (Sponsored Article)
Santa Fe Art Institue Poetry Translator Residency The Santa Fe Art Institute and Witter Bynner Foundation for Poetry are pleased to announce a one-month residency opportunity for one poetry translator at the Santa Fe Art Institute.

In addition to a fee-free residency, the recipient will receive a modest living and travel stipend.

SFAI is a non-profit arts center whose mission is to promote and present art as a positive social force.
