Latest Issue of Poets & Writers Magazine
Is Out

July/August cover

The July/August issue of Poets &Writers Magazine is out! It includes a special section on literary agents, and our website is chock-full of related content. Below are some highlights.

Literary Agents: Your Partners in Publishing

Our special section on literary agents marks the return of our popular interview series Agents & Editors. Contributor Michael Szczerban interviews Eric Simonoff, a heavy-hitting agent at William Morris Endeavor. An in-depth, extended version of the article is available online.

Our carefully curated database of literary agents keeps growing--we now offer detailed listings on more than eighty agents and agencies representing poets, fiction writers, and creative nonfiction writers, plus details about the kind of books they're interested in representing, their clients, and the best way to contact them.

Visit Agent Advice, where top literary agents answer writers' most frequently asked questions. For example, Rebecca Gradinger of Fletcher & Company recently responded to this question: Do you like it when a writer draws a parallel between the writer's manuscript and other books that have been published?

Read Excerpts of Five New Books

In First Fiction 2013, our thirteenth annual roundup of the summer's best debut fiction, Paul Harding, Karen Russell, Nathan Englander, Curtis Sittenfeld, and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie interview NoViolet Bulawayo, Bushra Rehman, Bill Cheng, Anton DiSclafani, and Chinelo Okparanta.

Newtown Responds

Six months after the deadly shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT, a local literary magazine responds. Georgia Monaghan, editor in chief of the Newtowner, describes how she realized that "the Newtowner has the opportunity to do something special for the community, something that could really help."
