Looking for my voice, finding my way

Hello everyone my name is Michael and I'm new here. I am a budding writer of fiction and poetry and I am still looking for my voice and finding my way. I am so glad I found P&W it seems like a great place to start, to learn and to grow. I look forward to getting to know as many of you as I can. I have been lurking on the edges of the page for many years and it's just been in the last two years or so that I have begun to dedicate a serious amount of time to the craft in an attempt to shape and manage the words inside my head. I have attended a few writers workshops and met with a small amount of local authors, I've found all of those events to be worthwhile and instructive. My "day job" is running a small, family owned art gallery in Robinson, Illinois and freelancing as a Graphic Artist. I am always up for bartering my talent for similar value, if you have any Graphic Work you need done I would love to talk about making a trade. Let's get together and find out if we can work together. I love building personal and business relationships! One of my many goals is to participate in the Great Bookstore Revival of 2013-2014. I believe that small scale bookstores will be making a come back in the years to come and I would like to be a part of that. I dream of a day when I can combine my love of art and my love of books into one perfect hub, one small slice of heaven on earth. I am always looking for ways to make an Art Store/Art Gallery/Bookstore become a reality, I would really like to hear from anyone that shares that dream! Thanks for your time and I hope you have a wonderful day!
Learning to write and trying to write each and every day, that is the best description of my current situation. I have lots of ideas and I am taking in a great amount of information about writing and writers and I realize I have a long way to go before I consider my work worthy of the term literature. The website is the site of my art gallery - I don't have a writing site yet.
