Hello Forum members,
I am new to this forum. I am a historian, adjunct lecturer, part-time National Park Ranger, and in my spare time I furiously write poetry, fiction and non-fiction. I'm currently working on my doctoral dissertation about a 19th century Anglo-Irish nun as well as several other creative projects.

Welcome, Sean. We have lots of adjunct lecturers around here, but I think you're our first park ranger! What park?

Hello. I work during the summer months at the Martin Van Buren National Historic Site in Kinderhook New York, the estate of our 8th President. I'm primarily a European Historian (British/Irish mostly) so MVB NPS is an interesting change. I enjoy it and encourage people to go visit it if they are passing through New York State.

Cool! I used to live in the Hudson Valley, although I never got to Kinderhook. I assume you know about the rumors (totally unsubstantiated) of van Buren's being Aaron Burr's love child.
