Hi I'm writing from Lancaster, England. I read some of the other introductory posts to see what I was getting into and there is a good mix of people so I'll take a chance. I'm just coming up to 60 and though I've written and drawn all my life I must admit to having all the confidence knocked out of me (metaphorically) years ago. Having had a almost non-existent education up to 16, it was not until I was in my 30's that I went back into education and in my 50's got my first (and only)degree in creative writing and fine art -still no confidence. Recently though I've been working with Julia Cameron's The Artist's Way and EFT (perhaps some of you will recognise that) and have the slight tingling of a sprouting new confidence.Of course, with a growing confidence could come an unrealistic view of my work so I am trying to find some way of getting feedback from other writers who are not complete beginners; I have joined a few writing groups and found the feed back tentative, through fear of giving offence I suppose and have found no one with an interest in the same kind of poetry as myself. Its difficult to find a group at the right level as I'm no intellectual and have very little technical knowledge of poetry yet I'm no beginner. I'm not working because of health issues but enjoy a varied life with involvement in the local Transition group and Green party, gardening (food mostly) and art, film etc etc. Lancaster is a lovely old small town with a wide range of activities and much social involvement. Its a shame that the beurocrats are determined to make it into a clone town. Anyway I'm sure that gives you an idea of who I am so perhaps some/one of you would like to share work with me and we could have an online writing group?
