A Simple Hello Can't Post

Hello,
My name is Jack and I've been writing on and off since I was about nine years old. That seems to me a long time ago. I'm 40 years old. Having a family and a steady job has deterred me from trying to publish my work. I write fictional stories and have dabbled in poetry. Most of my work has been short stories, but I currently have a novel I'm working on. I learned to type on an old Royal with a bad letter T my grandfather found for me at a garage sale. Later I was given an IBM Selectric my mother's friend "borrowed" from her office at the local gas company. As life went on, I managed to upgrade to a Toshiba laptop.
I don't know much about web-page building, web-sites or computers in general. As long as I had a keyboard to type upon I was happy. Due to my many years in the printing business and raising a family, I find myself clueless as to how to publish my work. Which is why I'm on this web-site. I could use some help so I don't get raped as a newbie in the business.
Once again; Hello, and thank you.
~Jack~

Welcome, Jack. Or Chad.

We've got a section on the business of publishing. Browse around until you can formulate some good questions, and ask away.
