WRITING, TEACHING, POSSIBILITY

Dorothy Randall Gray

"I create a safe, non-judgmental space in which writing is validated, not judged. I never ask people how long they've been writing or how much they've published," says Dorothy Randall Gray.

Gray has led creative writing workshops around the world, including a number funded by Poets & Writers' Readings/Workshops program. Read our interview with her and learn how she uses writing as a tool for empowerment, healing, and personal discovery.

Learn about Ware's unique style of storytelling in an article in the new issue of Poets & Writers Magazine, and take a look at how Building Stories plays upon the non-linear quality of memory in an accompanying slideshow.

FERLINGHETTI TAKES A STAND

Poet Lawrence Ferlinghetti was recently named the inaugural recipient of the Pannonius Prize--and declined to accept the 50,000 euro award.

Ferlinghetti, who published Allen Ginsberg's Howl in 1956, and founded the legendary City Lights Books in San Francisco, declined to accept the prize on the grounds that it received funding from the Hungarian government, which has been accused of violating free speech and civil liberties.
